มายากลของปฏิกิริยาเคมี... ก็ไม่เชิงว่ามันลึกลับอะไรมากมาย  มันก็แค่เพียงเกิดขึ้นไวมาก (dexterity) และเปลี่ยนสภาพไป (distraction)

Burning mercury thiocyanate leads to its decomposition into three other chemicals. These three chemicals in turn decomposed to three substances, which leads to an enormous deployment "snake"
การเผาสาร mercury thiocyanate จะนำไปสู่การแยกสารนี้ออกเป็นอีก 3 สารเคมี (chemicals) และทั้งสามสารเคมีนี้ก็จะแยกออกเป็น substances (สสาร) สามตัว  ที่เราเห็นเป็นเหมือนงูนั่นแหละ

Match head contains red phosphorus, sulfur and potassium chlorate salt. Heat generated by the phosphor of potassium salt decomposes and releases oxygen in the process. Oxygen in combination with sulfur produces short flames that we use to light, such as a candle

ในหัวไม้ขีดมีฟอสฟอรัสแดง  เมื่อเจอกับข้างกลักไม้ขีดที่มีสารซัลเฟอร์ และเกลือโปตัสเซียมคลอเรต  ความร้อนเกิดจากสารฟอสเฟอร์ของเกลือโซเดียม เกิดปฏิกิริยาและปล่อยออกซิเจนออกมาในกระบวนการสลายตัว ออกซิเจนไปรวมตัวกับซัลเฟอร์ ทำให้เกิดเปลวไฟ

Fire + hydrogen     ไฟ + ไฮโดรเจน

ก๊าซไฮโดรเจน เบากว่าอากาศ และก็ติดไฟได้ง่าย ผลก็คือการระเบิด  ก็เพราะอย่างนี้แหละ เขาก็เลยหันไปใช้ก๊าซฮีเลี่ยม (ก๊าซเฉื่อย ..ถ้าเป็นคนก็...ใจเย็นมากๆ) ซึ่งก็เบากว่าอากาศเหมือนกัน

Mercury + aluminum   ปรอท + อลูมิเนียม

Iron + copper sulfate solution  เหล็ก + สารละลายทองแดงซัลเฟต

Iron replaces copper in solution, turning bluestone in green vitriol. Pure copper is going on iron  เหล็กมันจะไปแทนที่ทองแดงในสารละลายซะเอง และมันก็เปลี่ยนจากสีฟ้าให้เป็นสีเขียว ทองแดงบริสุทธิ์มันก็อยู่ที่เดิมได้ มันก็ต้องเผ่นไปหาบ้านใหม่ ... มันก็ไปแพะเกาะอยู่กับแท่งเหล็กนั่นแหละ
